Designing 007: A Look at the Art Behind the Icon
The TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) Bell Lightbox will be undoubtedly proud to present: 007: 50 Years of Bond Style, which happens to be the largest Bond exhibits in history. The TIFF marks the first stop on the exhibit’s North American tour (it kicked off in London). This collection features costumes, props, models, conceptual art pieces, movie storyboards, and other amazing vestiges made famous over the years.
There’s more to James Bond than you may think. Go beyond the black suits and shaken martinis to take a behind-the-scenes look at the craft behind this cultural phenomenon. Five decades ago, James Bond became a new, refined kind of hero—one that made a huge impact on art, fashion, music, travel, and even mindset. You will find all sorts of fascinating pieces at the exhibit, including the original Aston Martin, Oddjob’s hat, the original golden gun, and Jaws’ infamous teeth.
As you make your way through the collection, you can find clips from the films to remind you of where you might have seen an artifact. The Designing 007 exhibition will be accompanied by three film programs, a number of special guests, and educational workshops. Visit TIFF today and explore the design, style, and artistry behind the film industry’s most beloved secret agent.
Tickets can be purchased at tiff.net/bond. The event runs from October 26th to January 20th.
