Enjoy everything from independent films to short films at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. Known by everyone as TIFF, the film festival dates are September 6 through September 16. Considered the most important film festival after Cannes, TIFF is the place to come to see some of the top movies from Hollywood, Canada, and around the world. The 2012 Toronto International Film Festival will feature such anticipated films as “Ai WeiWei: Never Sorry,” “First Position,” “Compliance,” “Elevator to the Gallows,” “On The Road,” “Rust and Bone,” “Call Girl,” “Spring Breakers,” “The Stores We Tell,” and “The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology.” This year’s festival will feature a digitally-restored “Jaws,” which was approved by director Steven Spielberg, as well as “Playtime,” a classic film by Jacques Tati.
Initially, TIFF was just 10-day film festival. Today, it offers programming every single day of the year as well as lectures, discussions, workshops, industry support, and the opportunity to speak with filmmakers in person. TIFF Cinematheque presents classics of world cinema and contemporary art house films while TIFF Kids delivers top-notch films that are ideal for families and school groups. A network of over 160 cities across Canada, Film Circuit offers under-served areas exceptional Canadian and international films. Visitors to the Film Reference Library will be treated to the most extensive English language collection of Canadian film-related material in the world. And Reel Talk is a preview subscription series that presents Academy Award®-quality movies followed by a stimulating discussion.
