Alex Colville at the Art Gallery of Ontario

For his latest project, Andrew Hunter, the Art Gallery of Ontario's curator of Canadian art, has culled over 100 works by Canadian veteran and artist Alex Colville. Colville's work-deeply intimate, at times tense and troubled-includes such pieces as Horse and Train and Man on Verandah 1953; and Target Pistol and Man, 1980. Colville was a Toronto native and veteran of the Second World War; the latter often tints his subjects in a macabre manner. His works are on display now until January 4th of next year.
