Start Your Holidays in Toronto with Concerts & Thousands of Lights

An Early Start to the Holidays in Toronto

The holiday season is easily our favorite time of year, as all the city transforms into a festive wonderland of colorful lights, animated window displays, and boundless good tidings. Perhaps it's the cool nights that warm spirits toward sharing the season with the ones we love, or maybe it’s the many ways we find to show others how much we care. Fully embracing the best of both sentiments, as of Saturday, November 14th, the Toronto holiday season is officially upon us. Whether you choose to stay close to your suite, or venture toward nearby Yonge-Dundas Square, the weekend brings a pair of FREE, festive ways to ring in the holidays.

The Bloor-Yorkville “Flick the Switch” Lighting Ceremony

November 14th, 5-6:30 pm

Village of Yorkville Park

The stylish streets of our very own neighborhood come to life with holiday cheer, right outside your door. Take the five-minute walk to Village of Yorkville Park (at Cumberland and Bellair Streets), where national R&B icon Jully Black will perform a spirited seasonal concert, as lights come aglow all around.

November 14th, 5-7pm+

Yonge-Dundas Square

Billed as a “360-degree theatrical experience,” Illuminite isn’t your everyday holiday party. While there is in fact a tree in the middle of it all, its very nature embodies the heart of the festivities. In lieu of a traditional fir, pine, or spruce, this 40-foot beacon of all things Noel is a sculptural piece of art, blanketed in 52,000 LED lights. Beyond its unique centerpiece, festive displays fill the streets of Downtown, starting with this night of music, dance, and performance art (jugglers, stilt-walkers, aerial displays, etc.), not ten minutes from our hotel.
