A reclaimed natural oasis just 10 minutes from our hotel on Bloor Street, Evergreen Brickworks marries historic industrial architecture, environmental sensibility, and dynamic social spaces in a truly special destination for seasonal fun, aptly known as The Evergreen Winter Village. Set in the Don River Valley, the colorful collection of recycled shipping containers, blazing fires, and outdoor games is easily one of the most anticipated Toronto winter attractions each year.

Warm-Up with Games, Music, Food & Drinks

Anyone looking for a unique way to spend a cold-weather day need look no further than Evergreen Winter Village. Regular games of Ball Hockey, Corn Hole, and Giant Jenga take place on the grounds, dotted with fire barrels for warming your hands between rounds, not to mention a killer soundtrack from live DJs (12-4pm, daily). Of course, there are ample ways to spend your time indoors as well, including board games in the Welcome Hut, or over drinks like hot local apple cider and Ontario craft beer in the Sipping Container. And don’t forget to graze your way through some of the city’s best food trucks – such as “farm-to-truck” plates at Heirloom, Budapest street eats at Original Chimneys, and hearty gourmet poutine at La Bréhandaise Catering in the Local Food Court.

The History of “Toronto’s Natural Playground”

Don Valley Brick Works served as a quarry, brick-making factory, and city landfill for nearly a century, dating back to 1889. Today, $55 million of tireless efforts have been made to return the area to its original splendor, home to three ponds, a meadow, and wooded area alongside the factory’s numerous repurposed structures (now host to special events all year).
