The Word On The Street

1.     A national book and magazine festival in Toronto, Canada, The Word on the Street takes place Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Queen’s Park Circle from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Considered to be Canada’s largest outdoor bookstore, the free event provides both adults and children’s with an inside look at the country’s amazing literary scene. Catch the biggest names in Canadian literature at the Scotiabank Giller Prize Bestsellers Stage. At the Great Books Marquee, you’ll encounter a multitude of the year’s top books, everything from fiction and non-fiction to short stories and poetry. Check out popular authors from Random House of Canada Ltd. and McClelland & Stewart at the Remarkable Reads Tent. The Scribendi.com Wordshop Marquee hosts writing workshops for aspiring writers that will be taught by faculty members from The Humber School for Writers.

There are two additions to The Word On The Street. The Nothing But The Truth Tent offers a spectacular look at Canada’s great literary non-fiction while the Penguin Pavilion is home to well-respected Penguin authors who will read from their latest works. Kids who attend The Word On The Street will have plenty of options as well. The Children’s Activity Tent features creative crafts and interactive presentations inspired by recently published children's books, plus a cartooning workshop. The Children’s Reading Tent boasts some of Canada's most renowned children's authors and illustrators. And at the TVOKids Stage, you’ll find personalities from TVOKids onstage for a day of fun-filled interactive entertainment with a focus on literacy.
